Atletico Madrid favored to remain undefeated on La Liga odds
Club Atletico Madrid looks to remain undefeated in league action this season when they take on Real Sociedad on Saturday morning as a strong -205 favorite on the La Liga odds.
Los Rojiblancos posted a 5-0 victory over Levante as -185 chalk in league action last weekend, and have now held La Liga opponents scoreless in three straight fixtures ahead of Saturday’s matchup at Estadio Wanda Metropoilitano in Madrid.
Sporting a 7-6-0 record, Atletico remains one of three La Liga sides to avoid defeat this season, while surrendering just six total goals through 13 fixtures. But the club has been forced to settle for draws in four of seven outings to fall seven points back of first-place FC Barcelona, and trails at +3300 on the La Liga championship odds.
Draws have also been a common result in recent league outings for Real Sociedad, which enters Saturday’s contest as a long +575 underdog, while the odds of the two sides finishing level sit at +320. The San Sebastian side blew a second-half lead in last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Las Palmas as a -175 favorite, but is undefeated in five straight across all competitions, including a pair of shutouts in UEFA Europa League action.
That marks a major turnaround for La Real, who quickly fell below the line on the La Liga table during a brutal 0-1-3 run in September. However, the club remains mired in seventh place with a 5-4-4 record, and has tumbled to a +100000 longshot on the La Liga futures. La Real has also struggled badly in recent road dates with Atletico, getting outscored by a 10-0 margin in four straight Primera Division losses.
In other La Liga betting action this weekend, undefeated Barcelona hosts Celta de Vigo as heavy -900 home chalk, while defending champion Real Madrid renews its El Viejo Clasico rivalry with Athletic Bilbao as a -225 road favorite.
Barca has stormed to the top of the La Liga table during an 11-2-0 start that has also lifted them to clear -400 favorites to earn their seventh league championship in 10 years. The Catalan side has settled for draws in their past two outings overall, including a 1-1 draw with second-place Valencia as a -146 bet last weekend, but have filled the net in two straight home wins over seventh-place Celta, including a 5-0 win in March of this year.
Real is winless in two league road dates, while Los Leones currently ride a five-match winless slide and are 1-1-2 in their past four La Liga home contests.
