How to Bet on the Alabama-Georgia National Championship

The biggest game in college sports is about to happen. On Monday, January 8 (8 PM ET, ESPN) at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide will face the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship. The Bulldogs (13-1 SU, 10-4 ATS) finished first in the SEC East and beat Auburn for the conference title; the Crimson Tide (12-1 SU, 6-7 ATS) lost the SEC West to Auburn in the Iron Bowl, but they made it into the College Football Playoff anyway, and they’re 5-point favorites over Georgia at press time.

Even if this is your first time betting on college football, you’re probably familiar with the point spread we just mentioned. Most of the people betting on the National Championship Game will be looking at the point spread. Alabama supporters will be cheering for their team to win by more than five points and cover the spread. Georgia supporters want a win, too, but if the Bulldogs lose by up to four points, they’ll still cover. A 5-point win by ‘Bama would result in a push, with all monies returned. It’s the simplest way to bet on college football – but there are many other ways you can put some money down on Monday’s big game.

Moneyline
Instead of betting on Alabama or Georgia to cover the spread, you can bet on either team to win straight-up. The Crimson Tide are –180 favourites on the moneyline; for every $180 you bet on Alabama, you’ll earn $100 if they win the title (or $18 to win $10, or any multiple thereof). The Bulldogs are +160 underdogs, meaning you can earn $160 for every $100 you wager on Georgia.

Total
Having trouble picking a side? You can bet on the final score going over or under the total posted on the NCAAF odds board. There’s a total of 45 points for Monday’s matchup, which features two of the best defenses in college football. If they happen to combine for exactly 45 points, it’s a push, just like when you’re betting the spread.

Parlay
If you’re interested in making more than one bet on Alabama-Georgia, you can go for the gusto and combine those wagers in a parlay. Get all your picks right, and you’ll be paid exponentially higher than you would from making multiple straight bets – but if a single line goes wrong, you lose the whole parlay.

Props
Bodog Sportsbook will have dozens of proposition bets included in the NCAAF betting lines as we get closer to Monday’s kick-off. These increasingly popular wagers ask you to bet not on the outcome of the game itself, but on other events during the game, like which team or which player will score first.

Live Betting
To make the National Championship Game even more exciting, you can place many of the above bets – and several others on top of that – while the game is in progress. Just tap or click on the LIVE button (once it pops up on the odds board) to open Bodog Live. You can even bet on every single play, and Bodog Live will show your results in real time. It’s a great way to end a great season of college football betting. So who will it be: Alabama, or Georgia?
