Blues, Gunners betting favorites on weekend Premier League odds

Chelsea FC hopes to solidify its position above the line on the Premier League table when it takes on Southampton FC on Saturday as a -280 home favorite on the betting lines.

The Blues recorded a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town as -240 chalk this week to end a two-match winless run in all competitions to remain four points up on Tottenham Hotspur in third place on the league table going into Saturday’s game at Stamford Bridge.

The victory over the Terriers marks just the second time in five outings that Chelsea has scored more than one goal. Despite their sputtering offense, the Blues own a 7-1-1 record over their past nine league contests, and are a solid -400 bet to finish the campaign among the top four on the EPL table.

Conversely, Southampton currently endures a four-match winless run that has dumped it into 11th place on the table, and sits as a +750 underdog in Saturday’s contest.

The Saints suffered a crushing 4-1 loss to Leicester City as -110 home favorites on Wednesday, and have posted just one win in their past eight outings. With that swoon, Southampton now sits just four points up on 18th-place Crystal Palace, and sports +1600 odds of being relegated, ending their current six-year run in the Premier League.

Southampton has particularly struggled on the road. The club has earned just two points during a five-match winless slide away from St. Mary’s Stadium, but owns a respectable 1-1-1 record in three visits to Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal FC will be aiming to end a three-match winless streak in league action as they clash with Newcastle United on Saturday as heavy -400 home chalk.

The Gunners played to a scoreless draw with West Ham United as -170 favorites on Tuesday, and have scored just two total goals during an 0-2-1 run that comes on the heels of three straight clean sheet victories. That inconsistency has dumped Arsenal into seventh place on the EPL table, but they remain a solid +160 to climb back into the top four by the end of the season.

However, a date with Newcastle United may be just what the Gunners need. The Magpies have gone into freefall during a 0-1-7 run that has pushed them to the edge of relegation, and visit Emirates Stadium as +1100 underdogs.

In other Premier League betting action this weekend, Manchester City looks to extend its record-setting win streak in league play to 16 matches as they host the Spurs as -200 chalk, while second-place Manchester United visits West Bromwich Albion as a -185 favorite.
