Rams face Eagles, Falcons battle Saints on NFL Week 14 betting slate
The Los Angeles Rams (9-3) have already guaranteed themselves their first winning record since 2003, but they have much bigger goals this season as they host the Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) as small home favorites on Sunday in a key NFC matchup.
The Rams would pull even with the Eagles for the best mark in the conference with a victory and a loss by the Minnesota Vikings to the Carolina Panthers on the road.
Los Angeles continued its impressive campaign with a 32-16 rout of the Arizona Cardinals as 7-point road chalk last week, while Philadelphia suffered a loss to the Seattle Seahawks 24-10 as 3.5-point favorites away from home on Sunday night.
The bad news for the Rams is that they have lost the past four meetings with the Eagles and have gone just 1-10-1 against the spread in the previous 12 head-to-head matchups.
Two other big games will help shape the NFC playoff race in Week 14, starting with a key Thursday Night Football game between the New Orleans Saints (9-3) and the Atlanta Falcons (7-5). The Saints are 1.5-point road favorites and play the Falcons twice in the next three weeks. They could wrap up the NFC South division title with a sweep and a Carolina loss.
Meanwhile, Atlanta is one game out of a playoff spot at the moment and needs to pull off a sweep as well for any real chance to repeat as the division champion. The Falcons are coming off a 14-9 loss to the Vikings as 2-point home favorites on Sunday, and their last four games are all against divisional foes, including the regular-season finale versus the Panthers.
Atlanta has failed to cover three of four against New Orleans but has gone an impressive 9-2 ATS in its last 11 prime-time games.
Minnesota’s visit to Carolina is also very important in the NFC playoff picture. The Vikings (10-2) are 3-point road favorites after upsetting the Falcons and are now tied for the best record in the league after extending their winning streak to eight games (7-1 ATS, including seven straight covers).
But the Panthers have gone 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss and need a win to remain one of the conference’s top six seeds.
