El Cacique continued their drive towards the top of the Primera Division table with a 2-1 victory over Nacional Asuncion as -156 chalk on June 24, and have outscored opponents by a 16-5 margin in their past five ahead of Tuesday’s matchup at Estadio Defensores del Chaco in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Guarani have proven to be a solid bet in recent home contests, going undefeated in their past 10 games across all competitions. The 11-time Paraguay Primera Division champions have also been dominant in Copa Libertadores matches on home turf, going unbeaten in their past 10 contests dating back to 2015.

However, the club was forced to settle for a pair of draws in their final two group stage matches at home, playing Deportes Iquique to a scoreless draw after finishing in a 1-1 tie with Gremio to narrowly capture second place on the Group 8 table by a single point and claim the No. 10 seed in the final stage.

Despite the club’s relatively strong seeding, Guarani enters the final stage sitting well back of the favorites on the Copa Libertadores championship odds at a distant +4000.

River Plate will try to turn the page on a disappointing June as they take on Guarani in the first leg of their Round of 16 clash as a +110 road favorite. The 2015 Copa Libertadores champions powered to a 4-1-1 record in the group stage, earning them first place on the Group 3 table and the No. 4 seed in the final stage.

Los Millonarios have struggled since closing out the group stage with a 2-1 loss to Medellin, posting just two victories in their past seven matches. A scoreless draw with Colon in Primera Division action on June 25 leaves the club winless in two road matches, halting an impressive nine-match road win streak across all competitions.

However, Los Millonarios’ recent slump has done little to dampen their Copa Libertadores championship odds, which sit at a solid +550 going into the final stage, trailing only tournament favorite Palmeiras, which is perched at +450.
